Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was a good game. Not based on any movie, this game was perfect for comic book fans. Three years have passed and now we have The Incredible Hulk, the follow up to Ultimate Destruction. Instead of following the comic books, this movie is supposedly based on the upcoming movie. Can we kill Sega now or later?

The movie isn’t out yet, but for some reason the game doesn’t seem to be following the movie too much. You begin as Bruce Banner, whom is in captivity by the government. Banner turns into the Hulk and battles his way through the government and anybody else that comes in his direction.

Just like the Iron Man game, The Incredible Hulk seems to follow 25 percent of the film. Again I haven’t seen the film, but if you were to play this game right now then you’d feel the same way as me. Companies should work closely with the people behind the movie; look at the first two Spider-Man games. The whole purpose to movie based games is to get people excited for the movie, not to confuse them with a semi-new story that makes no sense.

Edge of Reality dropped the ball with the story, but what about the gameplay? They’ve stolen the best parts of Ultimate Destruction, which is a good thing. The moves seem similar, almost identical. You can still explore a huge city, just like every game now. What does make this game fun is the fact you can destroy anything you want.

Remember people the Hulk is some what bad right now (still up in the air in ways). In the upcoming movie he is good (safe assumption). So if the game is based off of the movie then how come the Hulk destroys buildings just by standing on them? Way too much destruction and it makes no sense.

If you destroy too much in this game then the soldiers will come after you. Now I know what you are thinking, can these guys really kill the Hulk if he can destroy buildings, just by standing on them? Yes and no. If you are not a gamer then you may end up dying. The Hulk as the ability to heal him so if you really suck at games then this ability will never kick in. Trust me there is no reason to die in this game so if you do die then spit on your own grave.

Possibly the best part about this game are the visuals. The Hulk really looks good, same with New York City and everything else. Certain animations from the soldiers seem to be off, but never-less the game has nice graphics.

The Incredible Hulk takes five hours to complete. If you want to get all the secrets, by destroying landmarks, then you should add another hour or two. This is about average for games now, but if you compare this to older games then this game is short. You can easily rent this game and beat it before the movie comes out.

Final Verdict
I think the asking price is a bit too much for this game. Considering how long it takes to beat this game and the lack of story, The Incredible Hulk doesn’t stand too well against other action games. The game does look real pretty, but looks aren’t always the best thing in a game.
